Music of Montilla and Ngwenyama

Jorge Montilla Moreno is one of the many fine musicians produced by Venezuela’s “El Sistema”, he is best known for being a spokesperson for both Latin American music and the Eb clarinet. Acclaimed California-born violist and composer Ngwenyama has written an extended and detailed poetic program (backstory) for her piece about a downpour in the desert.The music is propulsive, riddled with multiple stops (in a way reminiscent of fiddling), and distinctly involving.
