Ava Andrews, Assistant Concertmaster in the Saint Louis Symphony Youth Orchestra, was born in Boston, Massachusetts and moved to St. Louis with her family when she was only four years old.  Currently a senior at Webster Groves High School, Ava is 17 years old, has been playing music for 12 years, and studies with Angie Smart. Ava plays chamber music in the Preparatory Program at the Community Music School of Webster University, and serves as orchestra liaison for the Tri-M Music Honor Society at WGHS. Ava has attended the Missouri All-State Orchestra festival for two years and most recently received fourth chair in the violin section. She has participated in summer music festivals at Interlochen Arts Academy and Indiana University. A favorite musical experience of Ava’s was the time she performed at the Carolina Chamber Music Festival (New Bern, NC) her freshman year while her family watched. Her aunt began to cry. She states this was when she understood the depth music holds, and how much she wanted to pursue that for life. In addition to music, Ava also enjoys video games, skiing, and dancing tap, ballet, and jazz at The Studio, Inc..

She would like to thank her violin teachers Susan McDonald and Angie Smart for teaching her and laughing with her, her family for supporting her through tough times and college applications, and her dance instructor Amanda Fedor for teaching her to have fun and stay calm while working hard.
